Hiplife artiste Emmanuel Botchwey, known in music scene as Kwaw Kese, has announced that come February 14 which is Valentine’s Day, he will feed and donate food and other items to 4,000 inmates at the Nsawam Prison in the Eastern Region.
The artiste last year donated several items, including mattresses, sachets of water, pairs of slippers, toothbrushes, bags of sugar, bags of rice, gallons of oil and mosquito repellants to the Ho Prison and the Kumasi Central Prison.
Kwaw Kese, chief executive officer of Mad Time Entertainment, said celebration of the Valentine’s Day is to show love to one another, adding, “Valentine’s Day is a day of love and on a day like that I am going to share my love with inmates of Nsawam Prison.”
The artiste first announced his intention to donate to Nsawam Prison on his Instagram page, saying he needs the support of everybody to put a smile on the faces of the inmates.
Kwaw Kese became passionate about the conditions of both the infrastructure and inmates of prisons in Ghana after he spent five weeks in the Kumasi Central Prison for smoking cannabis in public.
The rapper, speaking in an interview with KMJ on Daybreak Hitz (Showbiz Review) on Hitz FM,believes that there are some people society forgets about “anytime we are having fun and prisoners are one of them, so we have to show them lots of love.”
The ‘Yakubu’ rapper said that preparations are far advanced for the event, and called on corporate Ghana, philanthropists, churches, individuals and organisations to support the initiative to make it a successful one.
