Actor John Dumelo who has been heavily criticized for posting the picture of a university graduate hawking on the streets, has finally apologized.
On Saturday May 18, 2017, John Dumelo posted on his Instagram page a photo of the KNUST graduate, Godfred Obeng Boateng selling bread on the street and wrote: “Just saw a KNUST grad hawking in traffic…What went wrong?”
Some Ghanaians, however, descended heavily on Dumelo over the post. After immense pressure, John deleted the post without apologizing.
However, it seems John has finally decided to apologize for his post. The actor in a post on Instagram, has acknowledged his goof and apologized to Boateng, who he spoke to on the phone.
He wrote:
I just had an extremely gracious fone conversation with Kweku Vito aka Godfred the hawker and apologized to him for misjudging his inspiring and humble actions by selling on streets with his employees. I must say however, that this is not at all like me especially as I have been promoting start ups and young entrepreneurs. As a matter of fact, since January , Ive have 10 graduate students undergoing start up programs under the John dumelo Foundation. I was totally out of order on this one and I sincerely apologize to everyone especially the hard working hawkers who endure the sun just to make ends meet. I will soon join him on the streets to experience this selfless act for myself. Very inspiring.
The gentleman John posted his picture happens to be a graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science of Technology (KNUST) and he is currently Chief Executive Officer of bakery company, A1 Bread.

They can't pay for advertisement, this will get many journalist to come and interview them and Ghanaians will know the business they do, please tell dumelo that we need one snap.
Why do people fail to realize that this thing is staged and a marketing gimic.A1 wants to launch in Accra and this was a good ploy to get it underway quickly. You are all channeling your hatred of Dumelo to rather make A1 popular
This bofuon should not be pampered ,, the are all greedy bastards, ***barred word*** ***barred word*** actor. The guy will not steal , but he will work hard and God will bless his hard work, ***barred word*** dUMELO
Because they lied to you, and you are still living in foooooooooooooooools paradise.
Interestingly few comments on his apology ....... what kind of society are we allowing this politicians turn us into.we cant reason anymore as brothers and sisters ........ its so sad
Why do we like to misuse titles? Or is it just sheer fascination with titles? If you got a small business, you can at least start calling yourself a manager before you start calling yourself CEO.
John, do you need ask what went wrong? Our money for jobs was given to you for free and cheap politics. Hope you have seen that you contributed to what went wrong? These were the concern of some of us but because you were swimming in political power those days, you did not see anything wrong. Return the two vehicles and two children will get a bed at the children's ward.
He will learn from this. What goes up must come down!!! Apology accepted. Next time, think before you talk or write. Humility is a virtue
