Award-winning musician, Cwesi Oteng, has finally expressed regrets after he openly declared his support for the New Patriotic Party, Npp in 2020.
The ‘Count Your Blessing’ singer was part of the tall list of Ghanaian celebrities who rallied behind Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo when he was running for his second term.
Qweci Oteng says he threw his weight behind Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo because he had great belief in his policies and vision for the country.
However, the singer now has taken a different stand as he holds nothing but intense regret for his belief in the ‘president’ in a new interview he granted on Hitz Fm.
“Openly declaring my support for a political party came with some regrets. I thought Free SHS was something to commend but it ended up being crap in people’s eyes.”, he stated.
“I am going through hard times. Very difficult times. I won’t say the government has failed but I think things can be done better. People are saying exactly what they are feeling. They are going through the situation. They are not trees.” Qweci Oteng added.
Cweci Oteng was also one of the strong voices that backed the introduction of the E-levy before finally admitting to the serious economic hardships in the country.
In the interview, he asserted that he feels happy whenever he is taxed by his service provider.
The gospel artiste mentioned that people are always tagged to a political party anytime they express their opinion about policies or address issues going on in a country.
He explained that this, however, has got nothing to do with him fighting for what he believes in.

The elderly have a saying " you may like something too much but it may not benefit you, you may also hate something too much but that is where your bread is. If you don't enter two different markets you won't know the busiest one. If there is one man Ghanaians had a lot of hopes on to to change things for the better, it's 'my man', unfortunately 'my man' has squandered a golden opportunity to make history. ' my man doesn't even seem to know what's happening around his immediate surroundings. His car is automatic, once you shift to D, oya, the car moves automatically, as to whether the car is going towards the left, right or centre, ' my man ' is just driving. A driver who says he knows the destination very well, along the journey he now ask the passengers ' where are we going '. The passengers answered ' anywhere will do, just drive on'. A country full of intellectuals, full of ideas, unfortunately once they get into politics, as if cursed they lose their brains, what a kayaye won't do, they will go ahead and do it.
