Prominent media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah has questioned the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) government over its promise to build an airport in Cape Coast.
During the launch of the NPP’s 2020 Manifesto in Cape Coast, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia promised that the Akufo-Addo government, will in its second term, build a harbor and an airport in the coastal town.
"For the people of Cape Coast, I have good news for you. We are building a new harbor in Cape Coast and a new airport in Cape Coast," he said.
Dr. Bawumia at the manifesto launch noted that building an airport in Cape Coast was very critical in the support of what he described as one of the country's major tourist and economic hubs.
"An airport makes a lot of sense in Cape Coast. It's a real tourist hub and between Greater Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast, you have a triangle that is a hub for economic activities," he said.
It's been three years since the promise was made but there has been no effort by the Akufo-Addo-led government to redeem their pledge as no effort has been made towards the construction of the airport in Cape Coast.
Nana Aba Anamoah while reacting to a post made by the NPP on X stating the achievement of the government questioned why the pledge to build an airport in Cape Coast has stalled.
“Where is the airport you promised Cape Coast People?” she wrote on her X page in response to a tweet by the NPP X formally known as a Twitter account.

***barred word*** talk from a desperate woman who want a husband but cannot get the right man because she thinks she is so high. Does she know how long to take to negotiate a land for the project, the feasibility studies, the drawing plans, contractors bidding process and also securing funds to commit the airport? Do not just come out to say something because the other so called celebrities are talking. Silent is golden. Borpiafo.
Atta Mills from Cape-coast built a ***barred word*** airport in HO of all places! how many people go to HO? So that ***barred word*** airport is rotting away there while Cape-Coast which is Ghana's main tourist center has none. And yet Atta Mills was acclaimed to be an Economist! If our leaders can borrow money and use it for projects with no return on investments, then we will continue to be indebted to foreign countries. John Mahama borrowed 30 million to set up a sugar factory that never produced an once of sugar! and Akuffo Addo wants to use borrowed money to build a Cathedral! Borrowing money to build interchanges, is not development! the interchanges must generate revenue to pay for that loan! You cant just borrow and chop! its simple common sense but I guess its not that simple for our leaders!
Its a big shame on the part of Akufo-Addos government. Making unnecesary political promises which today has not been accomplished. One of the blatant unfufilled promises to the people of cape coast is the creation of airport as that region had been considered to have tourism capacities. This promise had never and will never be realised. This unfufilled promised has been documented and the youth of cape coast will not forget and forgive Bawumia and Akufo-Addo. What is therefore the alternative promise for the cae coasters? The youth of cape coast are looking forward for a change in the direction and leadership of the elephant family. Hence, the only hope is simple life style man, Hon Ken Agyapong. My advice to the youth of cape coast: Plase give all your supuort to the man from your central region and rally behind him. Becuase the ghanaian politics today is based on purely tribal and geo - politics. Ghana needs chang! Bawumia has had his chance. Its now the chance of Ken Agyapong. Thank You
