Criminal investigations leading to prosecution is one prominent option Asante Kotoko’s board will consider at an expected emergency meeting on Friday.

This follows the news broken by Ghana’s number one football website; GHANAsoccernet.com of a Fifa ultimatum to the Kumasi-based club to settle outstanding debts within 30-days.

Kotoko have been told to pay a whooping €99,000 to German coach Hans Dieter Schmidt as compensation for his dismissal in 2005.

The club also incurres an 11,000 Swiss Francs cost for legal charges over the same case of which failure to pay within the stipulated time could lead to the club’s relegation to Division Two.

Kotoko is also to pay an amount of $6,500 to Turkish club Gençlerbirligi S.K. in refunds for unpaid ‘Solidarity Mechanism’ to local side B.T International for the transfer of defender Adamu Mohammed in 2008.

The club in this case also attracted an extra 1,000 Swiss Francs cost in legal fees.

An emergency meeting have thus been called to discuss ways of defraying the huge cost and also to fish out individuals responsible for the incurred liabilities.

“The Executive Chairman (Sarpong) will be in Kumasi later today (Thursday) and I am sure we will meet over this issue tomorrow,” a well-placed source told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“People must be held accountable for this mess and I am sure this option will be thoroughly discussed at the meeting.

“It is very unfair for this administration to assume such responsibilities bourne out of the negligence and massive corruption of some people and they must be made to pay to save this club from any sort of embarrassment.”

Shcmidt was fired in 2005 after losing the Confederations Cup final to rivals Hearts of Oak after which there were wide spread reports of a spat between the coach and the then-administration led by Maj. Yaw Larson.

Adamu’s sale to Gençlerbirligi S.K. occurred in 2008 under the leadership of Sylvester Asare-Owusu.
