Asante Kotoko made a big proceed harvest in Sundays Ghanaian derby against Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The Porcupine Warriors extended their lead on top of the Ghanaian topflight with a last gasp Michael Akuffo winner in the game which looked destined for draw before a 38,000 sell out crowd.
Striker Mahatma Otoo pulled Hearts even in injury time with a well struck free kick just outside the Kotoko penalty area to cancel out Kofi Nti-Boakyes first half header.
But the homesters once again showed enormous character when the diminutive midfielder blasted past Sammy Adjei immediately after conceding to send the whole stadium agog.
That however is not the only source of joy for the Reds as it later emerged they have made in excess of 240, 628 Ghana Cedis from gross ticket sales a figure club officials say is unprecedented.
The executive chairman this morning at management and technical meeting expressed profound gratitude to the technical team, players and the supporters for their massive support yesterday, Kotokos spokesman Listowell Bukarson told GHANASsoccernet.com
By this record kotoko have shown, its the biggest football team in Ghana with the greatest support base.
We will therefore want to ask our teeming supporters to continue to show such more support to the rest of the 3 home games as we seek to win the league trophy for the first time in four years.
The massive attendance which translated in the huge reap of proceeds gives the Kumasi-based club a massive boost as they look to pay off its debts in recent Fifa fines.
