Police in Tema have mounted a serious search for a fan of Tema Youth who made damning revelations about how he attempted to bribe King Faisal coach Mallam Yahaya to throw away a league match over the weekend.
Jude Acheampong, who made the disclosure publicly on Accra-based Happy FM claimed he paid an amount of GH�3000 or US$1500 into the Ghana Commercial bank account of the ex-Ghana International to play it soft.
But after the Kumasi-based club held their verve to draw 2-2 in the penultimate game in Tema, angry fans of the club stormed the pitch to demand for their refund since he (Yahaya) failed to fulfil part of the bargain.
But for the timely intervention of the police detailed at the venue, Yahaya could be have been lynched.
Police in Tema have mounted a search for the fan who is believed to be hiding in Sogakope in the Volta region.
With the Ghana FA keen to fight the global canker of match fixing, Acheampong could be jailed as a deterrent to others if he is fould culpable.
The Ghanaian authorities are expected to launch a full scale investigation into the shocking scandal which has sent tongues wagging.
The FA recently joined forces with the country�s branch of Interpol to eradicate match-fixing from the local game.
