Ex-Black Star defender, Tony Baffoe has called for local players who have the ability to be included in the Black Stars squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
There have been heavy calls from Ghanaian football enthusiasts to head coach Kwasi Appiah to include local-based players in his 23-man-squad.
Defenders Nuru Sulley and Abeiku Ainooson are among players on the lips of many Ghanaian football fans.
A defender during his playing days, Tony Baffoe believes local players who have the potentials and capabilities should be considered in the squad.
If the player in the local league has the ability and prepares mentally and plays alongside all these big shots, he can do well,Baffoe said on Power FM.
It is the preparation definitely towards a big tournament like that, and you know Ghana has a name, the Black Stars is a brand now, internationally very well recognized. I am happy we are playing Holland at the end of May and it is also a very good test for the team.
The Black Stars are scheduled to begin preparations for the tourney in May when Kwesi Appiah will be expected to name his 23-man-squad.
