Jerry Akaminko is set to undergo surgery today to fix his twisted knee which he sustained when the Black Stars played The Netherlands in an international friendly in Rotterdam last week.
Akaminko has been in Miami with his teammates since last week Sunday and yesterday, underwent an examination for further assessment ahead of the surgery.
The examination, according to sources, was successful and Akaminko will undergo the minor surgery today.
Akaminko, who is thus ruled out of the World Cup is expected to be out of action for the next four months.
The Turkey-based defender met with the medical team yesterday ahead of his admission into hospital for the surgical process to begin.
