The former midfielder says the Pharaohs now have every chance to qualify to their first World Cup since 1990.
Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah believes Egypt are now favourites to qualify from Group E to the 2018 World Cup after handing the Black Stars a 2-0 defeat in Alexandria on Sunday.
The Black Stars could only manage a goalless draw with Uganda last month in Tamale in the opening group game and fell to the Pharaohs for the second time in three years, leaving them five points behind Egypt in third place.
“This is football and anything can happen but we have to be sincere to ourselves. This qualifier is very difficult for Ghana,” Appiah told Citi FM.
“The only way we can qualify is if Egypt decide that they don't want to go the World Cup again and slow down in the remaining matches.
“This is because it’s very difficult but we have to wait and see but it looks very uncertain for us now. Egypt have the chance to qualify," he added.
In the other group game, Congo failed to pick their first point after Farouq Miya's solitary goal gave Uganda 1-0 win at the Namboole Stadium in Kampala. The Cranes are second with four points.
The Black Stars will host Congo in August 2017 in the next game but the defeat to Egypt is likely to be Avram Grant's last time in charge of Ghana's World Cup qualifiers since his contract runs out in February.
Goal understands that the Israeli's deal won't be renewed by Ghana Football Association.

Stephen Appiah the truth is always bitter but it is always good to let it out. I watched Adiyia and Naymer play in the same tournament but because Brazil had vision they developed Naymer whilst Ghana decided to destroy Adiyia because he is not a son of any famous player. Jordan Ayew is a striker that I will not call to the Black Stars if I were the coach but he is always playing. If you don't make others clock 9, you will also not clock 10.
oh yes it is over. thank God that incompetent govt and thi.ev..es will not be in power when the next round of qualifiers will be played bcos they will loot all the money all in the name of playing qualifiers with no more chance to fly monies anywhere. I am personally happy that they will not qualify bcos I want to see other teams go and try their best. its is enough with the same teams going from africa everytime. this only send one message to my mind. the message of CHANGE. Are we in the preiod change and Ghana must change too. not even the devil can stop that if he/she could it would have been a different story in America. Lets vote for change my ple. eight years of ndc is enough. i rest my case
U see yourself @ Nii Odai...you simply cannot get the reasoning.....what has been the results of the black stars lately?? Has been been inproving or consistently going down? ....That's the point...destroying every good thing that you inherited....that is the hallmark of this Mahama govt....Just look at what happened in 2014 making Ghana The laughing stock of the world..stop the shallow reasoning and analysis; look sharp and shine your eyes!!!
@APPIAH. Was NPP in power in 2010 when black stars qualify fo south africa 2010 and almost made a history. what about 2014? stuuuupid idiiioot appiah
