Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan popularly known as "Baby Jet has officially announced his retirement from football.
In an emotional speech at the 30th Afreximbank Annual Meetings at the Accra International Conference Centre on Tuesday evening, the striker said: “I want to take this great opportunity, a stage that is difficult in every footballer’s career, a moment all footballers do not wish, but when nature dawns, that thin voice will keep echoing into the ears… it is time… that voice has been clear in my ears, and I have succumbed to it, it is time. It is time to hand the jersey and boots in glory as I officially retire from active football.”
Asamoah Gyan leaves behind an impressive legacy as Ghana's all-time leading goal scorer with over 100 appearances for the Black Stars.
He began his professional football career with the Ghanaian club Liberty Professionals in 2003 and went on to play for several clubs across Europe, Asia and the Middle East, including Sunderland, Udinese, Al-Ain and Kayserispor.

Hmmmmm, very well. You have played your part. But you also gave Ghanaians lots of sleepless nights during your career especially with the senior national team the black stars. That penalty miss against Uruguay in one of Ghana's World Cup appearances sent Ghanaians to bed much earlier than usual. For me that particular incident cast a slur on your whole journey in football. All the same best wishes on your retirement. My humble advice to you, learn from Azumah Nelson, ABEDI PELE, Stepen Appiah, Samuel Osei Kufuor by NOT going near Ghana politics if you want to maintain your respect. Don't comment on anything Ghana politics. Once you make a mistake and say one, you will hear thousands. Concentrate on whatever business you have, business that will not bring you into direct contact with politicians. If you attempt, you will be tagged as NDC or NPP and that's where your problems will begin. My humble advice to my brother.
