Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing, on Friday inaugurated an eight-member committee to assist the Ministry to reactivate the abandoned Affordable Housing Project, to prevent Government’s investment from going down the drain.

Members of the Committee are, Mr Sam Pee Yalley, Chairman, Mr Kojo Twum-Boafo, Vice Chairman, and Alhaji Yahaya Yakubu, Special Resource Person for the Committee.

The rest are, Mr Eric Osei Afriyie, Mr Siaw Akugbey, Mr Peter Onanjiri, Mrs Mercy Naa Aku Offei Koranteng and Mr Frank Quist as Member/Secretary.

The committee has two weeks to submit its report to the Ministry.

Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, sector minister, inaugurating the committee, said the membership was carefully selected to provide a blend of knowledge and background necessary to inform any follow-up action that would be taken to ensure completion of the project.

He tasked the committee to identify issues that led to the discontinuation of the project, determine total mobilisation fees paid as well as to determine the extent of work done at the various project sites.

Mr Mensah said the committee was expected to determine the current value of the outstanding work and cost of completion of each of the building and determine the mode of allocating the housing units at all project site.

He said another term of reference would be to revalue the housing units and recommend the way forward towards completing the project.

“Given the calibre of persons appointed to serve on the committee, I have no doubt that you will work expeditiously and deliver on schedule,” the Minister said.

Mr Twum-Boafo, Vice Chairman, on behalf of members pledged their commitment to ensure that a report was submitted on schedule.
