The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will ride on the crest of wave of anything, no matter how flimsy it might be, to advance its power-seeking quest, presidential staffer Kojo Adu-Asare has said.
Commenting on the current Kalyppo-sipping social media blitz that began after a picture of NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, was posted on Facebook savouring the fruit juice, Mr Adu-Asare told Moro Awudu on Class91.3FM’s Inside Politics programme on Thursday, 6 October: “They [NPP] are latching onto flimsy stuff, lightweight issues – Kalyppo – that’s what I’m saying,” to campaign for the December 7 polls.
Speaking on the same programme, the Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea, said he was “surprised” about how drinking Kalyppo à la Akufo-Addo had become en vogue and created a firestorm on social media.
He, however, said the Kalyppo blitz had nothing to do with the product but more to do with the personality of Mr Akufo-Addo. “It shows you that these people are giants. I’m sure if President Mahama, too, was sucking on some coconut juice, his followers will do same. For me this election is about the two personalities,” he assured.

Nana Akomea you are not a good communicator. When you speak it it is always like you want to pacify the NDC.Your speeches should rather evidently show the clear diff b/n the two parties but that is not always the case.Eg. when Mahama was captured dolling money to the electorate in violation of the law and even his own people were struggling to explain what actually happened, you run to the studio to defend him.You should have decline to comment on the matter even if you thought Mahama was not sharing money cos in a way that would mean you want Ghanaians to draw their own conclusions. It is about time you got prepared for the battle to rescue Ghana from despondency, decay, delusion, incompetence, corruption, lies, propaganda as well as wanton and gagantuan deception
@Peacefmonline; Please upload current Kokrookoo show wai. Thanks
Elsewhere this guy called Adu Asare will never be heard in public. Is he not the same person implicated in the Brazil fraud case?
You people had wanted to create a caricature out of Nana Addo sipping kalypo. It is now making him more popular and you are there talking R.U.B.B.I.S.H.
Nana Addo was just sipping his kalypo and you guys had wanted to create a mountain out of it. Now that is making him more popular you are becoming jittery. If the destiny of Ghana lies in the hands of Nana Addo and the NPP, no man can change what the Almighty God has ordained. It is God who enthrones Kings.
@Apaak: You too what is your problem? You guys first posted the picture of Nana Adoo sipping Kalypo just to spite him but the man is gaining popularity so anything he touches becomes popular. In any case the NPP have great message which is making you jittery. Desperation has become your hallmark now....a president who just last week said he will never pay teacher and nursing allowance has now made a quick uturn to say he'll pay. The allowance issue is just one of the messages of the NPP and INSHA ALLAH you will lose potoorrrr! A bunch of incompetent people in the authority!
Adu asare, what is your problem. You should even be happy that educated Ghanaians as well as floating voters are seeing through the kallyppo campaign that Npp has no message. What serious alternative government would use kallyppo as it's manifesto. Is Npp serious at all. Campaigning on kallyppo. Good gracious. They claim there is unemployment, corruption and incompetence, give Ghanaians some sensible campaign message, your frontliner is drinking kallyppo. Nursery kids.
