The Deputy Communications Director of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fred Agbenyo has asked supporters of the NDC to accept defeat and plan towards the next election.
According to him – the party did its possible best to remain in power but the "unfortunate" thing happened when majority of the electorates kicked them out of power.
He told host of NEAT FM’s morning show host Kwasi Aboagye that "In a multi party democracy, we can’t continue to win elections all the time. There are times you will win and there are times you will lose. This is not the first time we are losing an election,” he said.
Fred Agbenyo was responding to an incident at the NDC’s headquarters after a ‘diehard’ supporter of the party nearly attacked him and other comrades for mismanaging funds allocated to grassroot supporters during their campaign.
The well-built angry man blamed the leadership of the ‘Umbrella’ fraternity for President Mahama’s loss to the flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the just-ended elections.
But Mr Agbenyo on NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie' said "We are likely to face these attacks from our supporters because they are hurt just like some of us.”

You people were lying to your party grassroots members even at the dying minute. Learn how to speak the truth. When results were pouring in and it was clear the NDC was loosing you people were still lying to your members. What the NDC need is a new leadership and not the current one.
i dont think ndc wanted to remain in power knowing the extent of mess they have created. u can tell from their campaign. it obvious they were asking ple to vote for nana addo and the npp to come and take the burden from them. he (mahama) would have resigned honorably but for his ***barred word*** ego and pride, and the sake of his party he did not. nobody would have taken ndc as a serious party if he had resigned. I am only waiting for Nana to give us the TRUE state of the nation within his 100 days. that way everyone will know the extent of mess this incompetent govt has created. i will not be surprised if they dont oppose anything Nana will say abt the true state of the nation
Tiger never yhink Ghanaians will ever make any mistake if bringing ndc back for intimidation, insults, arrogance, disrespectfulness, incompetency and ste*ling. You are GONE and GONE forever. There is nothing Ghanaians will ever remember you for other than those I mentioned above and is that what we want our country to be run? First of all,who is going to lead your party since even your own footsoldiers are on air say g you lack human resources unlike the NPP who have more than 1000 equally presidential materials, who in the ndc is qualified? These thi*ves and babies with sharp teeth at the Flagstaff house? Forget about it and wait after 2024 when Zenator is well groomed because apart from her there is nobody in your party with the party's ideology of accountability and social justice. I was happy when her father congratulated her with advise to be truthful and honest to Ghana. How can you rule a nation with no ideology?John Mahama was confused to which way to go with his Nkrumaist ideology and the ndc ideology and so the result was disaster. The youth in the NPP like Anthony Abayifa Karbo, Sammy Awuku,Kwadwo Opong Nkrumah, George Anda, Dr Nana Afriyie etc are all brilliant chaps in the NPP who are learning from their elders in the party and they follow the ideology of the party. Dr Bawumiah for the past 8 years have been groomed to perfection as President Rawlings said, the NPP believe in their ideology and go by it,they will never depart from their ideology which is their guide. Ndc is bugabuga and the result of bugabuga is humiliation and disaster so you got what you paid for. Democracy comes with ideology not conbative revolution of intimidation and winner takes all. Ndc next time learn sense and come out as a serious democratic party but not militia gangs.
NDC has never won Ghana's Elections squarely before. They either bring Foreigners, Staff Ballot Boxes with already thump printed sheets. It is just that this time round all other parties were very vigilante especially NPP, and the Supreme Court has sealed most of the Holes the NDC Used in the past. Imagine if the results were not posted at every polling station, the NDC with the help of EC would have changed the Figures. Now there is also a better Definition of Over-voting FOR WHICH still NDC does not understand
I have been saying that NDC can only win elections when it rigs with the collusion of EC! The Ashanti and the Eastern Regions they allow NPP to win are the machinations of the NDC and EC. 2000,2004 and 2016 elections were those that could not be rigged. 2016 is an electoral tsunami. HENCEFORTH, NPP SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR ALL ELECTORAL PROCESSES TO THE DECLARATION OF THE RESULTS AS IT HAS JUST DONE.
no Need to Play the blame game surely akufo addo will be a one term president.he faces the impossible Task of fullfilling his numerous promise particularly that he will transform Ghana within 18 months that is counting from january 2017.he will soon be exposed and ghanaians will realise they have been taken for a ride
Ogyam is vindicated.
The Kriminals in the NDC knew they will lose the election because people like Omane Boama; Felix Kwakye; Fifi Kwettey ;Koku ; Adams ; Twum -Boafo were arrogant; abusing people even the clergy were not spared ;monies meant for the grass -roots in the NDC were diverted on the orders of Asiedu Nketia ; the cash was not dripping but been licked like honey by the delinquents with sharp teeth ; Fred Agbenyo was a thiff and arrogant full who thought the political grounds on which he was standing was so solid he would never fall ; he came on radio and spoke arrogantly like NDC was going to stay in power for next 20 years what they forgot was thaty Jon Mahama never won an election and therefore the road was slippery ; Jon Mahama was just selected and not elected in 2012.
Onupka b3 gy3n lo? Your leader, the unifier. where is he that the party angry supporters are beating you up? You see how life is, when it's not happening of affecting you; then it's not a problem, but when it does, then it is. You are yet to taste the worst going into opposition. I can only pray for you that you survive it.
first time in history for saying the truth. Kwame A+ has done a good lob
