Former NPP Member of Parliament(MP) for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah has taken a swipe at organizers of the planned June 4th demo over their requests to the Police for permit to carry weapons and use private security during the demonstration.
The organizers sent a letter to the Police stating, "we will bring our own security company to provide protection to demonstrators. All weapons held by demonstrators or by the contracted security personal will be for personal protection only; and all weapons will be duly permitted in accordance with the Arms and Ammunitions Act, 1972 (NRCD 9) e) Proposed route and destination: We expect that the Demonstrators will gather at Circle".
They also demand to go to the State-owned media to address the nation.
“The procession will move from Circle to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, where the Protestors will make a demand a slot on GTV to speak directly to the Nation and lay out our grievances, in accordance with Article 55(11), which guarantees fair opportunity to Ghanaians to present their programmes to the public through equal access to the state-owned media," the organizers namely Captain Smart, Okatakyie Afrifa and FixtheCountry Movement leader, Oliver Baker-Vormawor specified in their letter.
Touching on the issue on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" Thursday morning, Collins Owusu Amankwah believed the organizers are harboring ulterior motives, as such, their demands should not be countenanced.
Whiles noting his love for peaceful demonstration, the NPP MP doubted if the organizers of the planned June 4th protest really want peace.
Hon. Owusu Amankwah, in a state of shock, questioned the motivation behind the organizers' audacious demands.
"You want to go to GBC; you want to speak to the country. Are you a President? President Baker-Vormawor, such arrant nonsense! Can you imagine? You want to speak to who?" he asked.

After he lost his position in Mahama’s government because Ndc lost the election, he want to destabilize the country. Such a greedy ***barred word***.
Blame Samson Lardi Ayenini and his crest fallen news file programme, a programme with the penchant for giving platform to 1n$sane so called intellectuals to inflate their egos. This +wa=+ of Olvier Vormawor started being a regular on newsfile during the pandemic and without fail every weekend made no sen-se whatsoever but guess what? Samson b0ring ayenini and multi media gave him unfettered access to spew g=ar-bage. Now this $erpent lacking maturity surrounded by utter 1=d10+s like okatakyie, captain smart and co. is showing his true colours.
CHILDISH WAY OF STAGING A COUP!! LOL.
My people are some different breed of people! They seemed to think that they have a divine right to rule this country after the messy rule of their idol Rawlings! However, this ***barred word*** needs help from the psychiatrist
Why is NDC executives - Asiedu Nketiah, Sammy Gyamfi etc not speaking out on this issue? This is the person (Oliver) who is being supported by the British High Commissioner. Oliver did not send his tweet insulting Ghana Army and threatening coup by mistake. His attempt to organise armed demonstration on June 4 - which led to the killing of many innocent Ghanaians of which Rawlings admitted "excesses and human right abuse" speak volumes. Sometimes, I ask myself: this man - Oliver correct/mad? He is a big liability to Cambridge University. Mr IGP, ignore people like Asiedu Nketia, Haruna Iddrisu and NDC who lack foresight and think about political power.
Carrying weapons, ending the demonstration at GBC and making pronoucement on GBC radio to the nation. The smartest way of taking over government? These guys need to be monitored closely. They are not to be trusted. I feel for mother Ghana.
The comments smack of coming from a chief overseer but not from a diplomatic mission, let alone the British high commissioner. The comments are intended to imply that the BHC is extremely dissatisfied with the police's actions, to the point of fearing the worst. This is no semblance of comments coming from a diplomat. Ghanaians should be worried and mindful of the fact that those comments were coming from a diplomat in support of a coup monger. Furthermore, bearing in mind that Ghana had suffered a traumatic coup that had foreign elements of connivery, I bet the response of the IGP was just too civil to such an unwarranted sarcastic demeanor of the British High Commissioner. We should be reminded of the fact that there should be political coherence beyond party politics, namely NDC as against NPP, when it comes to national sovereignty and security.
